All people can write a little poem...or one line that helps everyone feel like settling in and creating something. We'd like something postiive and uplifting as well as welcoming and
comfortable without being too mushy. Hahaha! that's alot, isn't it? Well, let's get started,
lets' boogie, let's blow the roof off, let's have fun. What's your line? What's the tune you
whistle?
Then I scribble down words and themes I can associate with it.
Now in this case our theme is Creative cafe - so - I write down as many words I can that rhyme with cafe. Simple.
cafe play say may way day pray hay stay hooray gay grey today wackaday fley
All very noddy I admit - but you can start combining to get interesting results
Welcome to the Creative Cafe
You might meet some friends if you want to stay
You''ll find it's a place where you can play
It might even take your blues away.
Let's sing
Sing to Ning
Oh Ning
Ning's the thing etc etc..
Maybe I feel its time to get down to some writing. Rhyming is easy - Paul McCartney made a fortune doing it.

Hi Richard
Hey that sounds clever Richard. Write down all the words that rhyme huh. Good idea.
I like it.
So the writing is harder than the rhyming. That's a shame! Like I told you I was looking for an easy programme that helps you make up tunes but downloaded a very hard looking thing that put files all over my desktop. I have a PC by the way in case you hear of anything easy. I suppose the Beatles never had any evening classes in songwriting that they could go to...!
Well, I suppose if it was that simple, we'd all be millionares.
However, what I've found is often really good stuff comes out of one single line.
ie Try to sum up what you want to say in a single sentence, or two.
Then the rest of the song can be an exploration, or reiteration of that theme.
So write down in prose, or a few words, what it is you want, then work around it with words that rhyme.
If I'm teaching people to suck eggs, then I really do apologize.
Its the same with tunes - you may have something knocking around already that you can fit words to.
Don't worry about the right or wrong of it, throw that sort of thinking away. Just do what seems to come naturally.
My music teacher used to tell me "Don't over-egg the pudding!"
I am looking around for PC stuff for you right now
I've been looking on the Internet, and a programme called MAGIX Music Maker Deluxe looks quite good - but retails at £40 - I don't know how far your budget stretches. A problem with this is it sounds a bit "buggy" - not having used it I can't fully recommend it. There is also a lot of freeware out there.

Hi Richard
Happy happy happy birthday to you again
I am afraid it was the Magix music maker demo which I couldn't understand and put files all over my desktop!
I will do a search on childrens music maker software in case they make something easy for children that I could understand as well. Thanks for looking for me anyway.
Hope you are having a lovely day.
Bye for Now

Finally found my way back here...so, Jill you were saying that New Shoes was lacking drama...did you want something more classical? What do you mean by drama?
can you show us an example from youtube?

Hi Bright
I started putting up the videos that have been suggested so far on the other discussion but just start getting confused by too many choices after a while.
Richard has made up some good tunes himself so maybe he could make one up for us and then we could think up some lyrics when we know what tune it is. Not much to ask of you is it Richard? Or anyone?
It would be nice if there was an easy music programme where you could add in bits of all kinds of songs you like and mix them up into a new arrangement. Or is that called cheating!
Yes narrowing down the choices seems to be quite hard at the moment.
I am not sure where to go from here right now
Sorry to be so vague. Must have lot the plot for the moment!
