Let your imagination run free

I don't know if anyone watched Horizon last night --> Brief overview for those who didn't

"Horizon takes viewers on an extraordinary journey into the human memory. From the woman who is having her most traumatic memories wiped by a pill, to the man with no memory, this film reveals how these remarkable human stories are transforming our understanding of this unique human ability"

It was excellent and the part made made me think was the concept that the human mind can time travel, I had never given it any though before, obvious though once mentioned, you can travel to your own past and travel to your own potential futures,

Did you see it or have any comments?

I watched the programme. You know, I think it would have been better as a series. With different aspects of the memory having a programme to themselves. I felt it was a bit cramped as a one off programme but very interesting.

I was fascinated by the work of the French doctor dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Propanalol as a way of easing the pain of bad memories. Emotive stuff and I reckon can produce some extreme views in people as to its ethical and moral standing. Although, my view, is it up to those who are suffering with PTSD as to what option/s they take of the ones that are available.

Admired the chap with Alzheimers and his determination to live in the now and make the most of it. He was very optimistic for a man suffering this awful illness. Or is it disease? Ican't remember. See, my memory is bad. lols

I didn't watch the program but it sounds really interesting!! The memory part of our minds is amazing (as is everything in our minds really) but memory really amazes me

O.k., I can see traveling through your past but I do not see traveling to the future, please explain in detail how this would be possible.

There was a time when it would have helped me a lot to forget something that had happened. Even now I don't like to think of it.

I wasn't paying complete attention to the programme but do think these areas of research are important. Sounds like more programmes on this subject would be good as well.

I did not see this programme I am afraid, but I am very much into exploring mnemonics and schemes for remembering things which are difficult to to recall on demand, but which you still need to, sometimes, for instance short strings of numbers, like for telephone numbers before they are entered on the key-pads and can be readily retrieved. 'Memory men' think this can be taught, but the creative imagination has much to offer in devising a means of training your memory for this. its more by association with what is already familiar to you, so that it is a small step to remember additional things as they come up. If you are interested in the bare-bones of a scheme I use, do get in touch! I use the 'Sound-link key', which utilises phonetics by association with numbers and word-strings to remember number sequences exactly as you want them when you recall them. The creative bit is devising the word-strings so they are easily associated with what you need to remember.
