I have now changed the Spotlight slideshow to thumbnails to see if these load faster. These also have the advantage each member with a photo featured has their name, photo title, link to their page and photo comments also featured. I think this is fairer and makes being in the spotlight more potential publicity.
But as always I am keen to hear what YOU think of this new arrangement.

Now we are getting a bigger group I decided rather than me pick the theme and the photos in the Spotlight each week all of you should have some choice in the matter. So I have added 100 featured photos to the Spotlight slideshow to start. I went through all the photos which took quite a while as there are over 1400 now and got some from when we opened right through to those put up last week. I left as many comments as I could saying if your photos were going up.

Anyway the maximum number of photos can be featured is 100. So my plan now is to go around every few days and change 10 of the photos. To make things fair I will do this with one photo each from roughly the following categories
1) Artwork/Painting (Realism)
2)Artwork/Painting (Abstract)
3) Landscape
4) Person
5) Animal or Pet
6) Flower and/or Greenery
7)Jewelery for Sale
8) Handmade Craft for Sale
9) Card/Book/ Paper Product
10) Anything Else

This discussion is your chance to nominate the photos you want up in the Spotlight. Please write replies saying which photos you want with their url and the category they are in. I will do my best to put up all those requested as soon as possible depending on demand. Why let me do all the choosing when you can have your say? Creative Cafe is a site for our members and I want you all to have as much input as possible. Please also put replies here about anything else to do with the Spotlight Slideshow and any opinions you have on the subject.

Love this idea.....its time consuming clicking on every members profile to view their pics so yes def think thios a great idea...one question tho How do We choose the pics to go on the slide show?
What about having a pic of the week/month too where we all vote on the best pic withing the slide show...obviously no prizes but a little praise goes a long way!!!

Just put up the pictures you want included in this discussion. If you go to the pictures you want and copy the address of the page at the top and then paste it in here or even put the name of pic and member who did it then I will include them. Your idea of having a vote on the best pic is worth a try if members can be persuaded to vote. I have just asked for voting on blog of the week so will see how that goes first. And we have had prizes before now. Still have some fairtrade friendship bracelets and wooden pens left somewhere!

Hi

I have just added a stop press to this discussion as I thought that the slideshow was taking too long to load and so have put up thumbnails instead. Have included 30 photos each from different members and will change 10 every few days. The advantage is that each photo can also be clicked on which takes you to the larger photo and comments and the members names can also be clicked on which takes you to their page and profile. So I think this is fairer and potentially better publicity than the slideshow which didn't allow clicks on individual photos or show up the artists names easily.
Anyway let me know your opinions of this latest change and we will see how it goes.
