Ah I have not been on for a while and so first of all sorry. I have been so busy and whoop my wedding day is approaching as some of you may know I get married on the 17th May and we have been planning it for about a year now, we have a traditional Henna Party taking place on the 15th May and then the wedding on the 17th - its really got a mix of Tunisian and English culture to it which has been so much hard work, but we are slowly getting there and now I am counting down the days!
Can't wait to show you all the pictures of the day! everyone is so confused how we have managed to create the mix and though its not as perfect as I wanted haha it should go well - fingers crossed!
Hi Princess
Iwish you well for your big day, the most important thing is to enjoy it. I remember on my wedding day there seem to be soo much going on I would like to have had a rerun!!!
That's fantastic, Princess. I'm sure it's going to be wonderful! I look forward to the pics, too. All the very best, and congratulations to you both! Leslie
Just wondering what a traditional Henna party is all about? Is it a religious or specifially Tunisian tradition?
All sounds lovely anyway and I hope your wedding goes along perfectly.
Thanks for the kind comments everyone and Jill I am not too sure either haha! but I will certainly be able to tell you more after - from what I understand its a tradition where normally the woman has henna applied to her hand that has the symbol of marriage and its basically a party where they celebrate I think similar to our hen night but not quite the same! however we are not having it as solely for me and we are mixing it with my fiance and myself (normally he would have a night for himself too) we are combining it together and really its more for him because I am not having the full henna applied to me just a little and I am not wearing the traditional henna dress.
Oh yes I have seen the painted hands in pictures before. My friend Rita was going to have hers done when she got married. The pictures of the hands I saw looked amazing.
It sounds like you have arranged your wedding to combine the best of both worlds. It should be lovely.
Thanks Jill, we are trying to incorporate as much from both sides and heres hoping it will go as planned, though I am sure there will be a few slip-ups haha!
