Let your imagination run free

Art of any sort is creative in my opinion! Does it matter if the art is viewed as spectacular, average or poor? In my opinion NO! I became VERY frustrated last week when my son told me about a boy in his FIRST GRADE class getting a D in art!!! WHY? How can a first grader make poor grades in art (essentially coloring, cutting & pasting!?!?!) well, according to this BRILLIANT teacher, the child just wasn't "creative" enough. The child went home sad as could be and very disappointed in himself because this teacher didn't feel like he was thinking creatively when he drew a simple picture in black crayon of his father feeding one of their horses by a barn. Because the child didn't add color or cut any pieces to paste on. I think this is just TOTALLY wrong. So what is my opinion on creativity? ANYTHING a person makes when TRYING to be creative IS creative! How can it NOT be when you are TRYING TO CREATE something? Any thoughts?

I totally agree and I think this is disgusting especially when they should be encouraging kids to be creative not whacking them down to such a degree! There are many forms of art even them drawings of stick men are extremely creative it doesnt matter what form it takes even if it just an outline, its creativity and this needs to be encouraged!
