I took out the latest activity module which I was moving as I didn't have time to keep logging back into the site and checking what was happening every couple of hours as I had been doing! Now I wonder if you want it back or not?
Will be glad to hear your opinions on this subject.
Hi Jill,
I kinda like the latest activity module because it gives an instant glimpse of what people are up to. The blogs are good, but lately they seem to be only showing people's products, and not that topical. So the nosey neighbour in me likes to see who's talking to who, who's recently updated their profile, or new pics, etc. Sorry I haven't been on much lately, but have been busy with meetings, seeing friends from out of town and summer activities with matthew. We're off camping in Wales this weekend, so will be incommunicado for a week. Will try and make some contributions beforehand!
All the best,
Leslie

Hi Leslie
Oh I quite like seeing the blogs promoting members work they have for sale. I guess that is my manic spending spree gene coming out! And we have had lots of other subjects as well. I tend to write on subjects like graffiti and did the dirty car art one recently as well as on fairtrade and some mental health issues that come up. And just homely stuff that happens around here as well. The thing is at least the members who make the effort to contribute are in the spotlight and the subject matter is decided by those doing the work. I was getting fed up keep making up the Cafe News on subjects that interest me and wanted more member involvement and the blogs seem to be doing that Ok.
Yes the latest activity module does give a snapshot of what is currently happening for those who are interested. I will see what other opinions we get first but will probably put it back in again in September.
Hi
I like to use the latest activity module as I am nosy! It made it easy to see what is going on. I agree with what Leslie Wilson-Rutterford said.
Oh Leslie, I hope the weather is good over the weekend in Wales. I can't imagine camping in some of the rain we have had lately, it's pouring down here now!

Hi Wendy
Great to hear from you. How is your cat that ran away? Is he still being treated to rich foods? Dickens went out in the garden for a bit this evening and then ran back inside again pretty quick! Must say I was relieved he doesn't want to run off straight away.
Ok so you are voting for the latest activity to go back in as well. I will wait a while and see if we get any other responses first but as I was saying to Leslie will probably put it back in again soon.
Hope all goes well. I know this summer is so wet isn't it. Surely we will get some sunshine soon!
G'day each!
I like & agree with it's 'nosey' factor, & its good at getting people to add comment on whatever 'grabs' 'em! But I felt quite uncomfortable witnessing poor Jill constantly feeling obliged to add a comment or two whenever there was a few hours with no activity.
So, Leslie and Wendy, could you take a moment to reassure Jill that a few quiet hours doesn't matter, with or without the 'Activity' module.
Thanking you in anticipation

Hi Azzi
Yes I admit I like the site to be 'busy' and have been more relaxed about things without the activity monitor to tell me who has been doing what when. The trick will be to bring back the monitor and stay relaxed as well I guess. I know that we get active and quiet phases just like we have active and quiet members and not everyone wants to be the life and soul of the party! Even so it is nice when members join in and make their own contributions on Creative Cafe.
HI Azzi & Jill
Sorry for the delay in replying to this.
Of course a few quiet hours do not matter, in fact quiet periods are normal and to be expected! And it's not right that Jill feels obliged to constantly add comments. Life is too short! I hope you both are happy in your new home.

Hi Jill
Georgie is fine, in fact he doesn't go anywhere now! I think his week away has done him some good and calmed him down. He got bored with the fich foods and decided he would just stick with whiskas. Now he preferes Morrisons own brand stuff which is brilliant as it's cheaper!
No sunshine here but at least it's dry. Perhaps that means I ought to do some washing!
I've got you a card for the new house but can't send it as I don't have your new address. If you send your address to my ntlworld account that would be great. I wouldn't post it on here - you know what the internet is like!
Best wishes
Wendy

Hi Wendy
Glad your cat is Ok now. Dickens has been out a few times in the garden but not far. He went in the neighbours garden and I called him back! I am so nervous of him going off and getting lost or hurt on the road. But at least he has stopped hiding under the bed which he did when we first got here.
I am fed up not getting any sun. I got a solar powered water feature for the garden and it has only had enough sun to work once! Would be nice to have some hot weather before the summer ends wouldn't it.
Yes I will send our address asap. I am just so behind with emails and stuff. Am only on the computer about a quarter of the time I was at the old place as there is so much to get done around here. And I am trying to fit in everything when I am on.
Ah! Georgie is out the front somewhere now - he went out when I took the bins out - I called him but he hasn't come back yet, but it was only 45 mins ago so he should be back soon... I hope!
Yes everythings fine. We've been here almost 3 months now and still haven't finished unpacking! It's amazing the rush we had to get everything packed, I think we had at the most 2 weeks to pack - though all the attic stuff was already packed away and in storage and it was bringing all that stuff here that threw us out - but we are gradually going through it all now we have space to move! The attic in the old house was packed to the rafters!
I found out at the weekend that the RSPB are creating a new nature reserve very near to us and I have put my name down for volunteering - I don't know what I'm going to do though! We already have a large area of green belt including Kingsbury Water Park - this will be extended to include the new reserve opening next year called Middleton Lakes. They are hoping there will be otters there! I'll expect you'll be asking me to take loads of photos for the cafe! There is a hill walkable from ours with some fantastic views of the area.
I had a good look at the met office site and the BBC weather pages and it seems that there is not going to be any heat wave in September - there will be thunderstorms sometime on Sunday and from Monday the whole of September will be unsettled. Friday and Saturday should be ok so make the most of it! :-0

Hi Wendy
Yes take some photos and write up some lovely blogs Ok! Sounds nice to volunteer on a nature reserve.
I hope your cat has come in now? Dickens is just sat up on the top of the sofa besides me. He is purring and seems to be sleepy.
I know the unpacking seems to take much longer than the packing did. There are still loads of boxes to do upstairs. Also the amount of rubbish we keep generating is in the tons! Just the cardboard boxes themselves take up a lot of room and need to be sent to the tip.
Shame about the September weather. I am not pleased with that foecast Wendy. Will definitely make the most of things if it is sunny tomorrow.
Hi Jill,
In response to Azzami's comment, yes please don't feel compelled to update all the time! We can take a few quiet hours here and there! I'm sorry about my comment before. I was only referring to the main page today. Of course it's good to promote ourselves! We are our own fav topics at the end of the day. And it is nice to see the caffers wares! Ultimately, though I really like the blogs like you put up, re: graffiti and such. Responses to what's going on around us. Maybe we can have a section for putting up little promos of our work, that is different to actual blogs, or forums as they are also called. or are those two different things? I haven't quite got my head around that one!
I do hope we get a bit of sunshine this weekend and that our camping trip isn't a total wash-out! Here I am, an American, talking about the great British obsession! Well, after living here for 27 years, I guess I've earned it. Have a great bank holiday weekend in your new home, whatever the weather!
All the best, to you and all who have taken part in this discussion.
