Let your imagination run free

I was looking at Applications which I have remissly never looked at before because I was trying to find where my RSS feed is (if anyone knows where please do let me know!) and I found that there are all sorts of these Applications you can add to your page including this one called Shopit which says it is a Store where you can sell your work on your page. I havn't tried it because I don't have anything to sell myself but it might be useful? Let me know what you think of it.

I'm looking at it; it wants my cell phone number, which I'm a little hesitant to hand over just to try it out. Anyone have any experience with it?

Hi Kate

I noticed it has added the store right to the top of your page which certainly puts your products for sale right in front of any visitors to your page. I have no more information about it though. It is just in the list of applications you can add to your page but I imagine Ning checks all the applications before allowing them on the list so it should be Ok I would have thought.

Yeah...I just get a little paranoid. But yes, it is Right There.

I suppose I'll take the plunge and find out for everyone!

Hi Kate

You are a star! I think it will look good with some of your great products at the top of your page.

Okay, I'm not sure how I did it, but I got it set up without giving them my phone number. And it looks really good! So I'll add a couple of things and see how it goes.

Hm, except I _don't_ like how the item description goes. It's so narrow it's hard to read unless it's _very_ short, and I kind of need space for longer descriptions. Kind of a pain. :/

Hi Jill, there is one comment on the opinion part of the app, & unfortunately it seems to be correct, it doesn't work. If you go to www.shopit.com its just another social network site although you can use it to sell, the app just links to the advert to sign up. You do not need to pay or put your mobile number in, thats just for the pro version, but possibly it links to your shopit store or something if you do sign up for pro version, but to be honest I don't think it will make any difference. I think you need to sign up to buy as well so I will wait and see what happens.

Kind regards

Valerie

Hi

Yes I've just tried yours Valerie as you have products in the store and it just keeps returning to the add application page. I have now sent them a bug report. Really sorry if it is just a waste of time and doesn't work. I'll let you know when I hear any reply.

Sorry about this.

I was just trying to look at GEMS / Valeries Shopit store too & it still just keep linking back to this page.
I will wait to see if anything changes before i try it out myself.

Thanks for the info though Jill

Hi Angela

Yes I advise you and anyone else thinking of trying the Shopit application to wait until we get some info back from the bug report.

It is quite annoying for it not to be working though!

Have a good day anyway.

Hi Jill,

Here is an update, to purchase items from the shopit app. you have to click on the shop name which in my case is Seagems, that then takes you to the shopit site where you can click "add to cart" to buy you then have to sign up, a bit like ebay. So it does work, but the system does not make it clear about having to click on the name first or any other instructions, so we'll just have to wait & see what happens.

Regards

Valerie

Hi Valerie

I've been back to your store on your page and tried clicking on your products and see full store and all the other options but they all still go back to the sign up page. They certainly don't go to where customers can buy your goods which is what you want.

I havn't heard anything back from the bug report I sent yet. I will write to them again if they don't reply soon.

Bye for Now
