I love the lights! Out here in the country there aren't many places that decorate for the holidays - heck, most of us don't even turn on porch lights at night! The only time we turn the porch light on is when we know we'll be home after dark and don…

About Me and my Creativity.
We have a small llama ranch in the Rockies Mountains of central Colorado. We harvest their beautiful fleeces every spring. These fleeces are either sold raw to other fiber artists or I process them into rovings, batts or handspun yarns. I am a handspinner, felter, knitter and crocheter. I love all things fiber!
Likes and Dislikes
Love natural fibers.
Especially love llama and alpaca fibers.
Love big bold colors - partial to purples, teal greens and deep russets.

Do you have any disabilities that affect your creativity?
I have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome in my left shoulder and dislocated my right shoulder over a year ago (but didn't go to the doctor for months) so that never did heal right. Then a broken left foot and ankle that still hurt like the dickens. Add degenerative arthritis to the mix - all these things make it difficult to spin, card fibers, knit and crochet some days.

Evening Brenda

I can relate to how your son feels. My family always had to struggle to make a go of Christmas around my illness. I usually ended up going into hospital, at least, every other year over a ten year period and always between December and January. I won't go now though. These places make me feel worse and with Dad in acute care waiting to go into a care home is all too much to think about. I am literally taking it one day at a time here.

Em was very tired today so we are going for a coffee and pad around town, tommorrow, after my visit to doctor.

Glad that your daughter is now closer to home and she and her boyfiriend get more support. Is very important.

Having a quiet evening here, ssnuggled up to hot water bottle and reading my new book.

Enjoy your day.

Hugs xx

Hi Brenda

I am having to post apologies to my cafe member friends. Problems with email account and some to do with myself. Have a lot of self sorting to do....because have hit a trough and become incredibly insular. Mental illness doesn't help..especially when depression comes and stays because interaction with the outside world is difficult. On the plus side am going out with my daughter tomorrow and she always puts a smile on my face when she is around. Anyway, hope your weekend is a good one and your crafting is going well. Warmest wishes x

Dear Brenda,
Thanks for writing. Writing a list or lists is a very good idea. It is important to be able to cross things off that are either done as planned or resolved some other way. Everyone needs a pat on the back in order to keep at it. People who do a lot of hiking in the mountains always say that you need to stop and take a look at the view and where you have been, every now and then on your way up the mountain, order to have the mental strength to continue.

I managed to do a PhotoHunter-post today on Anna's Adornments. I was late with it because the children and I went to a music lesson in the morning. But that was alright, because the theme for this week's PhotoHunt is just "Music"! So I have pics of Erik and Elisabet and their teacher.
Hugs
Christina

Dear Brenda,
Thank you for writing. It's nice to know that I am not the only one who does not always know what to do first.
Your work with mixing different fibers and dyeing them different colours is really interesting. It makes me wish that was a better knitter. My mother belongs to that generation of women who knitted their own sweaters and sock etc for WARMTH. But since Daddy passed away I have tried to get her to teach me. So I have learned the basics. My daughter wants to learn, so I hope Mother is well eanough and lives long enough to teach her.
One thing you and I have in common is a love of colour! I am amazed at the colourd you dye your wools and silks.
I'm glad you mentioned the carmelin necklace. I don't have any such beads right now, but it would go well with the antiqued copper. I do have some reds that might do alright. We shall see how I do!
Thanks for your advice. I think I need to take a nap now!
Hugs
Christina

November 11th, 2009 two minutes to one a.m.
ear Brenda,
Thank you for writing. I am still not used to how Jill's Creative Café works, but I am sure I will get the hang of it, with a little practice.
I am sorry if I wrote alot of complaints in my last letter. Actually I have so much to be thankful for. It all takes time, but I am finding solutions to different problems.
I am not going to worry about having to have to move yet. We are certainly in agreement that moving is no fun.
Right now I am trying to put aside my worries about practical problems and think about new pieces of jewellery. I would imagine that you would have a similar feeling if you started working with new fibers. What to do? On one of these Etsy-forums or maybe it was some other social crafts forum I read about the problem of getting started on a new project or picking up the threads of earlier work that one has laid by the wayside for a time. Someone wrote that you should start by just looking at your tools and your raw material and see if you see some potential there.
I have recently purchased some antiqued copper chain and findings. It's a newmetal for me, but I am excited by the warm brownish hues for fall and winters necklaces and braclets.
That is what I would like to do.
But right now I am afraid that I must say "Good Night" for now as it is almost one am.
But we'll keep in touch.
Best wishes
Christina Wigren

Long time no catch up. Love the picture of the blue wool bowl/basket. Striking.

Hope life is treating you kind and your animals are all well and happy.

Am looking forward to some cyber cake as celeberation of 2 years of the cafe. Glad to see the place is buzzing and much creativity being shared.

Warm hugs for you x

Hi Brenda,
Thanks for writng here. I love your blog. All those wonderful photos of your animals and your fiber-products.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to do everything that I would like to do with my blogs or with networks like Jill's. I have had trouble with my computer and some practical problems on the home front.
I hate to say this, but I am afraid that I might have to move to a new location in the next six months or year. I hate moving, especially when I like living where I am.
But it's still up in the air. So maybe I can put it off a bit more.
Sorry I don't have time to write more right now. But I'll keep in touch with you.
Best wishes
Christina Wigren (alias "Anna", "Sara" and "Tina")
