About Me and my Creativity.
My creativity has been dormant for far too long so far as painting and craftwork go. I have produced some good ceramic work in the past but alas non of it is now in my possession. The A'level work I produced was much more worth keeping than the low grade certificate it achieved - I was robbed!
UPDATE :12th May 2009 - up until the course finnished a few weeks ago I had begun to revive some of my creativity in a pottery class. I am really quite pleased with some of the results and may be able to resume the class when it starts again in September.
Aniother new thing i have retaken on is an alotment. They take a lot of work it the produce is meant to be good for you!
These days I study and have to write assignments for that but creative writing or even an autobiography might be a way to procede more productively.
Other creative pursuits I enjoy are gardening and photography of family and nature - in particular trees.
Likes and Dislikes
I like good wholesome organically grown food because i know it is better for me and better for the earth.
I dislike anything distructive - especially to nature.
Do you have any disabilities that affect your creativity?
Yes. The inability to prioritise my time.
I have a bi-polar diagnosis and if only I could achieve another high I'd be away again on the creative trail.
UPDATE: I do not need to be high to be creative. I am a potter, a gardener and a cook.

PATCH - Parents Apart from Their CHildren - is group that meets in Nottingham the 2nd Thursday of each month since January 2008. It is open to any parent who is separated from their child through family breakdown, care proceedings or adoption.

There was a programme on Channel 4 'Lost in care' 11/05/09 which explained some interesting facts about how the care system is letting down children and young people. The lives of our children are important to us as a society and it is widely acknowledged that the best interests of the child are usually served by them staying in the care of the parent/s. Yet this programme failed to point out that many parents have their children retained in care following short term problems without being given the opportunity to have the child/ren back. In fact the programme asserted that prolonged efforts to reunite the children with their families actually was the reason that they missed the opportunity to get them adopted at a young enough age to be of effective benefit.

The programme did not point out that very often children are taken from parents with downs syndrome and mental illness and put up for adoption, rather the suggestion was that the children all came from parents who abused and/or took drugs and alcohol. There are many cases i know of myself included where non of that was so - except for mental illness which was exacerbated by the distress of not having my baby who I had cared for over 3 months.

There are issues like this happening in many counties here and many other countries also.

Hi Rodney
Did you misdirect this post to me? I cannot remember writing writing anything about film-making anywhere!
As for my biography that would be for another time. Still got too much in progress to write about it, past or current.
Maybe in the future?

You write as a connoisseur in the matters of film-making! You are quite right. Much though I would love to have been in the position of making a film such as Mistrique, I was not. Next best thing is to appreciate the art and its exponents, viewing what they saw through the camera. By the way, did you check out the BIPED site at memphasis.ning.com ? I am quite chuffed with the progress so far, though I say so myself.

Best wishes,
Rodney

Diane, you may have already considered this, but I am making the suggestion anyway. If you would like to launch on a writing project, like your biography for instance, I am setting up the BIPED website specifically to lend assistance so that people can write their draft work and add/amend it, within the notes section of this ning site. If you need some spelling or grammatical tweaking, I can help by suggesting amendments online, without it being exposed to scrutiny before you are entirely happy with it. It works a bit like a blog, only you can edit existing content, copy and paste, and move the text around, whatever you need to do.

In any doubt, why not explore the site so far, and look on what is there, under the notes section. You can find it at memphasis.ning.com

I am here to help if you would like that.

Hi Diane

Sorry for the delaying in replying to you. I have been away moving my stuff and leaving my flat in Berkshire this week. Thanks for your advice on my cold/cough. The cough is quite bad in the mornings and being a smoker I think it is partly from that. I have tried to give up but keep going back to the filthy habit! I have the lemon and honey stuff and have been adding a bit of whisky as well! So smoking and drinking are included in my medicasl regeime. How healthy is that!

Yes please tell Rodney whichever way you can. I don't have an email address for him. It is not possible to combine two pages. If he wants to email me on info@creativecafe.org.uk I can go over what is possible and what is not with him anyway.

Yes it is good to promote the best in everyone Diane.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Bye for Now
Jill
