About Me and my Creativity.
I have been keen on doing patchwork and having ideas for projects like this Creative Cafe. Am hopeless at art! Would like to learn more about photography.
Love music but can only play chopsticks on the piano! Love reading and don't mind writing.

Do you have any disabilities that affect your creativity?
I have been diagnosed with Bipolar for 30 years. I guess it affects my creativity but is hard to compare since I have no experience of not having bipolar! At college being a bit manic ment I could stay up all night writing essays and meet the deadlines but getting too manic makes everything more chaotic rather than creative in my experience.
Where did you hear about Creative Cafe? If you heard about Creative Cafe from another member please say who as those recruiting most new members will win prizes.

Any other News?
Creative Cafe is set up and run by volunteers with mental health and other disabilities in Brighton Uk. We say 'Don't Let Disability Mean Inequality' and want this site to provide equal opportunities for disabled members to show off their creativity alongside members who have no disabilities in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

Normal Service will be resumed As Soon As Possible

Sorry I havn't been on Creative Cafe to answer comments and messages since the afternoon.
The computers and TV suddenly stopped. But it wasn't a power cut. The lights were still on.
We had a lot of fuss before finding out that switching all the fuses off and then on again would solve the problem but then my laptop would not connect to the internet.
Apparently I needed a Network key and the phone had run down while the power was off so I couldn't ring Peter to find out what to do.

Now it is 4am… Continue

Afternoon Jill

Hows the sorting going? Hope you have been delighted by things that your had forgotten you had :>) and that Azzi and Peter now have plenty of space to mess about with wires and electonical thingees.

I didn't write off list. Have been in very horrid place and is, at present, more about survival than forward planning (as care co-ordinator had previously wanted me to be doing).

She visited yesterday....3 quaters on a hour late and I was due at the doc's about half hour after so was a short visit. I was most upset. I have made a decision about Lithium (they can stick it). I also told her that the whole system stinks...particulary when the only support she had to offer was crisis team. Bloody crisis team. All they do is turn up for 10 minutes..ask about your sleep, eating and mood and then go away again. That is naff all support. She pretty much agreed with me and apologised for lack of anything of any use. Pah!

Because she was running late and I was angry and frustrated...by the time I got to GP was in a right state. He was very sweet but said there is nothing much he can do. Like I didn't know really. He has given me an extra prescription of lorazepam. When the you know what hits the fan...then sedation is what I need....that is in the absence of anything at all of any use support wise. I think MH services are a total waste of tax payers money.

Anyway, I have got as much sedation as I need and am living in the moment as the moment comes.

I have done some comfort buying on ebay. Haven't spent much but it was nice just to browse through things. I also got some lovely pinky/red shoes (dolly style with heels) from a charity shop, today, for £2.

When Debs is available going to ask her to take me to garden centre to buy pots (one for a diy bee nest) and others to plant purple and blue flowers in. Bees are particularly attracted to them. I shall need to part bury the pot and add in some moss to encourage queenie bee to make home there.

Apart from that..well I intend to have a long soak in the bath, eat chocolate and watch 'Torchwood'..and then sleep long time.

Hello Jill

Good to hear from you.

Have you heard of "Whingox" - I've heard that's quite good as well.

I used to have a poster on my wall at Arnold Lodge,

"And yea, the miserable f*ckers shall not inherit the Earth"

Quite direct really.

Ring when-so-ever you wish.

Hi Jill

Loving the new decor. It is my favourite, to date. :>) and 400 members. That is brilliant.

A while back I made a concious decision to keep away from 'Mad Wars'. Not because I am frightened to say what I think but I realised that nobody really listens any way and now I only bite if people come to my blog who are deliberately spiteful. Perhaps some of the frustration that culminates with people venting on each other is due to the lack of care and support in their lives. I mean is not like there is an excellent multi disiplinary team approach to care and care in the community is the excuse that is made not to provide anything. Well, some things but not much really. All I know is that being moaned at because I don't follow someone else's beliefs is not my idea of time well spent. Eating cake..however...is. :>)

Got a big box of creative bits from a friend yesterday so have lots of choice and spent most of yesterday looking through and sorting things. Some friends (from old NIMHe days) came to see me. They had a meeting in Dunstable and popped in after. That was thoughtful of them, particularly as they then had to journey back to Suffolk and Essex (respectively).

Enjoy your day there

Morning Jill

Wasn't able to get on here before. Nothing technical..was space I was in. Will write you off cafe as need some sound advice and support in that regard.

Sorry to read there was arji barji on UK Survivors. I think, and is purely a thought, that people have such strong views and often cannot see or tolerate where other people's situations or views. I think that goes with the territory. Is much the same in blogland really. There is quite a big pro recovery lobby forming. I am not anti recovery. I think it is a brilliant 'concept' but am always sceptical of things that are pushed from the top down. For sure wouldn't we all want to be recovered from any illness? But it isn't always straightforward. Maybe that depends ont he severity of your illness and how medications work for individuals. It certainly has quite a bit to do with situations when it comes to mental distress but I tell you Jill, people with mental illness seem to be less able to tolerate anything that doesn't fit their idea.It almost becomes a passion/obsession to make a point. When really a bit more heart felt empathy wouldn't go amiss. I'm far too tired these days to argue the toss with people. Particularly as my view is whatever works for someone is alright by me as long as they aren't trying to sell me their recovery. I do alot of avoidance these days as I have enough things that drain my energies to be dealing with.

Entrecard sounds like a bit of a scam or maybe the recession has hit the company so it can't pay anymore? Hmmm hard to tell but it sounds frustrating for you.

Have been watching the tennis...well most of it. I wasn't surprised Andy Murray went out in the semis. He had to struggle to get that far. Perhaps the pressure got to him. Is hard to tell but he didn't play like the number 3 seed. Then again Darinara Safina (who is world's number 1) got hammered in the semi finals by Venus Williams. Murray has plenty of time to improve his game and I hope he does. Then it won't be so painful to wach him play. Was glad the Williams sisters did so well. I really like them and Serena is a power house.

Not that interested in today's final although will watch it. I think Federa will win too easily but hope it turns out to be an interesting match. Dad is coming round and we are having a take out as I can't stomach cooking at the moment.

Anyway will email you later. I need some 'saner' advice :>)

Bye for now

Morning Jill

Thanks for the link to the lady who keeps goats. Will check it out next. I have a new respect for goats having got to know Debs's 3.

!man on his own in a boat in the middle of nowhere with his head in his hands with the words 'How he hated Saturday afternoon shopping'!". That sums up Dr J and most men really. Glad the social studies teacher used it because it cuts out all the 'needless' debates in classrooms. Or maybe it prompted new ones :>)

I know what you mean about spending to compensate. I do that although I have had to become much more creative with my shopping experiences.

When I have made my 'biwions' from the cards, I am going to get my flat re-carpetted and book a couple of weeks in a seaside resort. I like the idea of going back to Hastings or Brean Sands (outside Weston Super Mare). The beach there is glorious and the sea doesn't go out quite so far. Dreams eh? Who'd be without them.

Do I fancy a cornetto? Do I ever? Love them.

Got an Elvis Night tonight. Hoping the dizzy wizzies keep away or I will go so medicated up, I might sleep through the evening.
