Oh good Margaret. I knew if anyone knew it would be Cynders. She found out what the unknown flower I had in my garden was as well. Bye for Now Jill

Thank you Jill and Cynders for putting me on the right track. It is definately an Impatiens. After checking the wickipedia I am tempted to say that it could be this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impatiens_balfourii as this is more like the flow...

Don't know Jill. This is the first time that it has flowered. We thought it had a familiar look to it, could well be impatiens, I stopped having the houseplant varieties as they always got attacked by sticky insects and died. Will keep a close eye...

Hi Margaret I asked Cynders who is into gardening and she says Hi Jill ,it looks like Impatiens Balsami .Does it have seed pods that explode ? Bye for Now Jill

About Me and my Creativity.
If it uses stitches then I either do it or will have a go at doing it.

My greatest passion at the minute is bear and toy making but at any moment that could turn to completing many of the OFO's in the shape of quilts, sweaters or even starting yet another new project.

I am very much a mood creater but I will persevere at tasks that have been commisioned as these have been promised and I hate to break my promises.

Any ideas anyone?

There seem to be one or two garden orientated people here so I thought I might seek your help. This plant appeared as a tiny thing hiding under a hebe last year, presumably a gift from the birds. This year it was still there so I transplanted it to a sheltered spot at the fence. My neighbo… Continue

Not that I am pandering to Jill's flower passion but I just had to show you this Rose. It is a Whisky Mac that was planted where our border collie Mac used to dig large holes, in memory of him. Now I am not very good with roses and it usually looks a bit spotty and unwell. My neig… Continue

June nearly over already???

Where has the time gone? I feel as though I have acheived nothing and yet have been so busy.
Both mothers have taken up a bit of time but both seem to be on the upward turn now. Have persuded the octogenarian in laws to be collected and brought up here for a week. It will do them the world of good to get out of the city for a wee while. Means we will be busy entertaining them but have organised a party here at the house for our 10th wedding anniversary (for those doing the sums, 2nd time for bot… Continue

Elderly Road Trip

This was passed onto me by my mum who got it from an American friend. Thought it might make a few people smile, although I don't think this just applies to the elderly!!

Elderly Road Trip

(Remind you of anyone you know?)

While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch.
After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant, and resumed their trip.
When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table,
and she didn't miss them until they

Finally.........Meg

In September we stayed a week in the Mearns area of Scotland with stepson and wife. This is an area of Scotland that we drive through regularly going back and forth to the central belt but very rarely stop in. It has a lovely small distillery called Fettercairn where we enjoyContinue

Hi Margaret

How are you? I saw the following and thought you might like it!

THOSE BORN 1920-1979

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no child proof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because,

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.And we were OK.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ridedown the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all,no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chatrooms.......

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

Hi Margaret

No I left it too late to get the cat cushion in time now I think. I had it in my mind a few weeks ago and was going to put in the order to you and then it just went out of my head and now it is too late.

Hope you have a very happy holiday time.

Hope all is well with you? I had my eye on one of your cat cushions for a present and then left it too late which is annoying but there seems to have been so much to think about.
Hope you have a lovely time.
