I hope I will get to try your book lessons one day Patrice. Hope you have a good weekend. Jill

That's OK, Jill. Once you get the space/time continuum moving, you'll be knocking on my computer for book lessons. I'd be pleased if you'd try it.

My husband turns the bowls - I have only turned pens which I really enjoy. I did turn one small bowl (with a lot of help from Bob), I enjoyed doing it but it's not really my thing. I'll stick to the pens and chainmaille!!

Oh, Louise, your jewelry is absolutely gorgeous! Top o' the line!! Are the turned wood pieces yours too? I've ALWAYS wanted to learn wood turning, but never had the space or time. Your flowers are fantastic too. I loved them.

I totally agree, I always set aside 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour every night to read. You need to relax to read, if you are reading on the computer your all hunched up very uncomfortable!!!!

I am pleased and proud to share this honor with your cat. I can't think of any other being I would rather double up with - excepting perhaps my Great Dane, Savannah, who really isn't into crafts. Thanks again!

DON'T DO NO FAVORS

"Gimme all your loose change!, he garbled."
"I don't have any loose change, man. Leave me alone."
"Then gimme your watch."
"I don't wear a watch. I don't have anything to give you. How 'bout a hamburger? Let's go for a little food. How's that?"
"OK. Sounds good. I'll letcha up. My name's Herbert, but people call me Bill."

IT'S FUN TO MAKE YOUR VERY OWN BOOKS!

Having been a publisher, editor and binder of limited edition, hand bound books for over thirty years, it seems quite logical a move to begin a new endeavor teaching book making on the internet. Binding a book really isn't all that difficult, however there are as many different book structures as there are binders trying to think up new ones. That's the fun of it.

I'm looking for people who like to make things with their hands. Books fill that bill and are completely functional besides. Rec

IS THE FUTURE OF REAL BOOKS THREATENED?

"She entered the darkened library as soon as the family retired. The floors were richly carpeted and the sounds in the room were further dampened by the thick, velvet drapes. There were soft chairs and sofas in her path, but the moonlight from the tall windows was sufficient to see everything. The walls on three sides were solid with book shelves high up to the ceiling. She moved quietly to her right and began sliding her fingers over the spines of the books. Here was rich leather, smooth and gi… Continue

I hope I win because I'm new. Is that a good reason?

Well, of course not. Because I'm pretty? I don't think so. Because I've been alive longer than anyone? Maybe. (Although my last remaining aunt is 102.) During all that time, I've been a commercial photographer for insurance companies, an animation cartoonist, a painter (that didn't last long), a script writer in Hollywood, a tapestry weaver, a potter, a teacher, a hand paper maker, a marbler, a teacher, a book binder, a teacher and a teacher. Did I say, a teacher? Oh, yes...

To do all th… Continue

Hi Patrice

Congratulations on being joint member of the week with Loiosh the kitten! Yours were the only entries so I couldn't leave him out! Thanks for making the effort to enter and for a very interesting blog post. If you can let me have your paypal email then I can send you your $10 prize which is to spend with one of our art and craft seller members. If you go to the Salesrooms group there is a list of some sellers with things for around $10 for sale.

Thanks again for your entry.

Hi Patrice

Welcome to Creative Cafe. I see from your profile you have lived in some very interesting places from China to Mexico! Your bookmaking course looks interesting as well. If I had more time I'd do it myself but there never seems to be a spare moment. If only we could have more hours in the day.

Anyway it is quite easy to do things on this site like change your page theme and add photos, videos, music, write blogs. The latest 10 members blogs are featured on the Main page and so are some of the photos. You can also start and join in groups and discussions and make new friends.

So if you want any help with anything just ask and I will hope to catch up and get to know you better soon.

Bye for Now
Jill
