Why are arts subjects systematically being eroded from our educational curriculums?
Is it because contemplating the human condition is not necessarily fiscally rewarding? Or is it because producing a population of free thinking individuals might result in (heaven forbid) an outbreak of pacifism?

This essay was written back in March 2007 the night before deadline. Love the pressure. I have omitted images because I do not have permission from any of the artists I know to display and some aspects of this essay have been cut too. There has been an update on the Saatchi naming of ‘your gallery’ to online. I will leave it to the reader to research images of what galleries look like.…
