Hi Jill It is funny that the people one most dispises are the ones that are the most watched which is intriguing. It is always good to know the enemy of the human race. I watched Question Time but fell asleep halfway through. But what I did see was…

Hi Tina

Lovely to hear from you. I was worried about you when you hadn't been on here for ages. I had a look on myspace and couldn't see you on there either so didn't know what happened. Anyway it is good to see your new pics and hear about your new art group. Hope it goes well.

Yes we will have been open for a year in a couple of weeks. The time has flown by on Creative Cafe.

Hope to hear from you again soon and Happy Halloween.

Bye for Now

About Me and my Creativity.
I am a painter who paints with a philosophical eye. I am a colourist in my work and consider light and dark a necessary in each piece I work on. It's duality which exists within every aspect of life. Composition is important as this is the narrative aspect in any given work. Painting with dress pattern templates acts as a metaphor for the human body. It has neither been pieced together or seperated which means it can be static or it may have had a past or will have a future.
Many of the pieces I have worked on so far are based on Shakespearian plays and some particular scenes have been captured.
Nature plays an intergral part with in the work and symbolisms are held with in colours and motifs.
I mix the abstract with the decorative. But have found of late some impressionistic tendencies have crept in. My work is constantly evolving and at the moment I am on the point of evolution in my work right now.
Even though I would like to sell my specialist paintings so I can financially keep my family I am reluctant to sell these at the moment as I am aiming for my own first solo art show local to where I live.
Likes and Dislikes
I love Surrealism, Pre-Raphaelite and Romantic art. And illustrators like Arthur Rackham, Aubrey Beardsley, Alan Lee and Dulac.
I love reading but having graduated from a BA Hons in Fine Art this summer I have kind of given reading of big thick texts a back seat. Painting obviously.
Music which varies from Punk to Trance. Ecology and the planet. Animal welfare, Permaculture, Gallery visits, My children.

I dislike politicians. Only those who are true to themselves. Liars, poverty, inequality, war, the way the world is heading today.

Do you have any disabilities that affect your creativity?
No, only my sense of humour and inability to always knuckle down to painting. Something else gets in that way.
Where did you hear about Creative Cafe? If you heard about Creative Cafe from another member please say who as those recruiting most new members will win prizes.
I heard it from a friend called Jill on Myspace who is on my friends list there.
Any other News?
Not at the moment. O ther than I am up for commissions on any of the work viewed.

GYPSY HISTORY MONTH

Above GOGOL BORDELLO "NOT A CRIME"
A gypsy punk band who I love for their utter madness. As does a very good friend of mine.

JUNE IS GYPSY HISTORY MONTH. It is a recently passed bill that has gone through parliament with a particular lord or someone who has been fighting on behalf of the Romany community to have a history month of their own as do some other cultures. So June is the month and various centres will be holding venues and events to host this.
I have learnt that m… Continue

ROLF HARRIS AND ENGLAND

WEDNESDAY 23RD APRIL 10.35PM either on BBC1 OR BBC2, ROLF HARRIS will be presenting a programme called MADE IN ENGLAND. It is a programme about various unusual places to visit in England that would otherwise be over looked. On this programme will be a Romany couple who I know who live here in Cranbrook who have something like a 4 minute window in the programme to discuss their way of life. Something I myself am looking forward to watching. All I knew a few weeks back was that Rolf Harris was in… Continue

Arts subjects systematically eroded

Why are arts subjects systematically being eroded from our educational curriculums?

Is it because contemplating the human condition is not necessarily fiscally rewarding? Or is it because producing a population of free thinking individuals might result in (heaven forbid) an outbreak of pacifism?

"...the mind is ripe for something more than the benign joys it allows itself in general." (Andre Breton: Manifesto of Surrealism)

"Thinking is always the negation of what we have

Curation...an essay

This essay was written back in March 2007 the night before deadline. Love the pressure. I have omitted images because I do not have permission from any of the artists I know to display and some aspects of this essay have been cut too. There has been an update on the Saatchi naming of ‘your gallery’ to online. I will leave it to the reader to research images of what galleries look like.

Hirst, the Skull, the art world and the rest of it.

Good morning. This is my first blog ever on creative cafe. Have a read and see what you think.

I was thinking about Damien Hirst the other day and read how he does not actually have a real buyer for his skull.I don't know how true this is? I was also wondering if given recent art news lately if he is becoming old hat as it were in the art world. I am wondering if he has had his hey day and limelight. An auction was on a while back and hardly any Hirsts were sold but other artists
