To say the last couple of years of my life have been gruelling would be an understatement. Not only have I had to struggle along with my own illness (which isn't particularly easy) but have had to try and care for and get the right care support for my father. It has been an uphill struggle with services, who have mostly refused to listen to my concerns. It culminated in my father attempting to take his own life a few weeks ago. I can't explain the torment and pain that has given to me...and I am… Continue
This is most recent lot of cutty outty bits. Going to stay with friends next week and they have asked me to put together a box of my cards so they can sell them on their market stall. I have also heard back from local school and have a stall booked for their September Festival.
Little steps and all that:
Has been a bit of manicky weekend for me. I can tell when I am manic now (it has taken years to suss it) because I get a buzzy head. Like a constant pulsating that won't go away. With that a level of energy that demands using up. Not in any particular direction but it is there (like the head) buzzing around inside me, needing to be burnt.
I try to focus best as I can, because otherwise it can get chaotic and, if I don't try and keep the control, I can start getting the wanderlust and head off (… Continue
The British Medical Association has awarded its first honorary degree to Susan James a 54-year-old receptionist at a South London doctor’s surgery. Mrs James was given the award after demonstrating an extraordinary ability to diagnose patient’s illnesses within seconds of meeting them. Almost without exception she was able to deduce that the patients were nowhere near as ill as they thought they were and so did not need to see the doctor.

I don't know what it is about them but I confess to singing them over and over and over again.
A bit Geraldine. Bless her/him!!!!
I thought the Peter Kaye spoof reality tv show was brilliant and I think this should be The Crimbo No1 because the money from sales are going to the NSPCC. I will be buying my copy on Monday. Yep, I am such a sucker!

She will be 20 years old tomorrow. Have spent a wonderful day with her (pre-celebrating).
She is one of the reasons (most important one) I keep going, even through the downers and all the other horrid states that go with suffering Bipolar.
I am blessed with her being my daughter and… Continue
I have been contacted by someone who works as the BBC. They want me to pick out some of my articles from my blog and discuss them and my blog. I am not sure, yet, where or how or even for what programme is but the person will be ringing me on Monday to talk things through.

Have to be oriental style cards. One of the first cards I made, when I started making them earlier this year, had an oriental theme.
Whilst I on my long weekend away, I picked up some blank ivory coloured cards that were perfect for this theme.
Below is a card I made today.

Was sent the following e:mail and think it is good that there are different ways for people to express themselves and their views. The only problem (for many people with mental illness) is getting to such events and being included!
Dear Friends
Two events you would be sane to miss are normality testing on World Mental Health Day Friday 10th October 2008 and the meeting of the Survivors History Group at Bunhill Quaker Meeting House on Thursday 23.10.2008. Details follow. Are you abnormal eno… Continue

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,
Put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and not… Continue
Have got back from a week in The New Forest. Mostly it rained and mostly alot but that didn't stop us from going on. I spent alot of time in the forest itself, pony spotting or wandering around aimlessly (as is my want).
On a particularly wet day, we decided to go to Southa… Continue
1) Wait until you are sleepy before going to bed
2) If you’re not sleepy at your regular bedtime, do something relaxing; read a book, listen to music, or do some other activity that relaxes, not stimulates you. This will relax your body and distract your mind to remove your worries abo… Continue

Following a debate on the Lifeboat blog, someone has suggested that one of the ways to ensure the views of people with mental illness are truly represented in the press is to have a newspaper with a specific MH focus and that this newspaper should only contain articles written by pe… Continue
Added this picture because it tickled me. The accompanying caption was 'Express Yourself Freely'. Obviously the sentiment is all about being yourself but it got me to thinking.
If it went on the market, as breakthrough art, I wonder how much money it would fetch? there have been arti… Continue
