There seem to be one or two garden orientated people here so I thought I might seek your help. This plant appeared as a tiny thing hiding under a hebe last year, presumably a gift from the birds. This year it was still there so I transplanted it to a sheltered spot at the fence. My neighbo…

Not that I am pandering to Jill's flower passion but I just had to show you this Rose. It is a Whisky Mac that was planted where our border collie Mac used to dig large holes, in memory of him. Now I am not very good with roses and it usually looks a bit spotty and unwell. My neig…

Where has the time gone? I feel as though I have acheived nothing and yet have been so busy.
Both mothers have taken up a bit of time but both seem to be on the upward turn now. Have persuded the octogenarian in laws to be collected and brought up here for a week. It will do them the world of good to get out of the city for a wee while. Means we will be busy entertaining them but have organised a party here at the house for our 10th wedding anniversary (for those doing the sums, 2nd time for bot…

This was passed onto me by my mum who got it from an American friend. Thought it might make a few people smile, although I don't think this just applies to the elderly!!
Elderly Road Trip
(Remind you of anyone you know?)
While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch.
After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant, and resumed their trip.
When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table,
and she didn't miss them until they…

In September we stayed a week in the Mearns area of Scotland with stepson and wife. This is an area of Scotland that we drive through regularly going back and forth to the central belt but very rarely stop in. It has a lovely small distillery called Fettercairn where we enjoy…

I am a member of a charity knitting group. It is based in Kelty and Kirkcaldy in Fife but has branched online which is where I found them. They knit all sorts of things for all sorts of charities.
One of the things they do is knit boobs. Yes guys you read right! They knit them for the Tommee Tippee (I think I spelt that right?) charity who teach mums to be how to breast feed with them.
Anyway, I passed a comment one day about putting faces on them to make it more fun but wondered what the recipi…

Sorry to have been away from here for so long. Please don't take it personally, I haven't been doing very much communication of late. Not sure why, just kept procrastinating..........I'm good at that.
Neil Diamond concert was great if a little wet. Just after 6p.m the heavens opened as it can only do in Glasgow. Solid water for around 10 hours. Didn't ruin the atmosphere, mind you the poor folk on the pitch were getting a bit ______ed off by the end. A quick walk/swim to the hotel, stripped off…

Is a vast and varied thing. Through the years I have picked up the ability to do sewing, knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, applique, patchwork, quilting. Most of these skill I learned from my mother. (Although my grandmother and other adults have played their part.) Aparently when my nearest sister was born I ran around the flat fetching nappies etc saying "me do". It seems to have stuck, as whenever my mother learned a new needlwork skill I insisted she taught me.
My crafting does seem to be a m…

Is anyone else out there so similar to their mum that at times the U.N. looks like the only peacekeeping option?
Since my teenage years, in the 70's, we have clashed on a regular basis. Rub along together quite well for a while, then, eruption. Usually over something very trivial.
Since leaving home I moved progressively further away, much to her annoyance. She didn't want us living in each other pockets, but I was so far away she had no idea what I was up to. Remeber in the early 80's we ordi…

Today is the best I have felt, quite possibly, this year.
No matter how I try January always drags me down. Any sun soon disappears and the days are SO short.
Today was freezing, but I am quite happy to layer up and keep cosy. The important bit was that it was sunny, ALL DAY. The extra bonus was that on the way home from Elgin this afternoon it was heading for 4p.m. Last week it would have been nearly dark. Today it was still daylight and as a result we had a further surge of ac

Well. The little store in the village was asked in the lead up to Christmas, by someone new to the area, if they knew of anywhere local that they could get gifts that were made in tartan as they were having difficulty finding anything. This led to another discussion, as it does in the village shop, and the result was the owners suggested I put some things in the shop once the Christmas stuff was gone.
I got carried away a little and made two little tartan bears with hand knitted sweate

Well I took all the advice from the forums on various sites and guess what? forgot the bags. In the end didn't matter, didn't need them. As I discovered, the comments in the forums about Christas Craft fairs versus Christmas fairs were very true. This was a first attempt at a Christamas fair by this company but they
