Our Entrecard Pay Out Money will be Shared by Active Creative Cafe members. Tell us how do you want this done?

Well most of you know we get a lot of traffic and have gained some lovely new members here on Creative Cafe from Entrecard. The company has now introduced a cash out system in which they will buy back credits we earn in the system for real dollars. This is all very new and the exchange rate is low at the moment at $1 per thousand credits but they say this will soon go up. While we want to keep a lot of the credits we earn for our own advertising on EC widgets across the network I estimate we will be able to afford to cash out around 5000 credits a week. Once the rate goes up to $3 a thousand this would give us $15 a week.

Now that we have closed Creative Cafe Salesrooms and no longer need to pay the hosting costs for them and we have put in quite a lot of advertising on Creative Cafe our hosting and other costs are pretty well covered and we don't need to rely on donations to pay our way.

So we will be able to share out the Entrecard pay out among our active members. $15 a week may not sound much but it could be a $10 and a $5 prize each week in competitions. Or it could go to reward our top active members who write blogs and comments and are friendly. Or we could save it up and have bigger monthly prizes for example.

Basically I'm writing this post to find out how you our Very Important Members would like to see this money shared out among you?

All constructive comments and suggestions are welcome. And if you are already an Entrecard member as a bonus I will send you 50 credits for commenting on this post as well!

I do like this idea of setting some challenges if members would want to join in them. Sounds like it could be fun.

Maybe we could do monthy or bi-monthly challenges... Say, create something on this theme. And then there could be judging and/or voting on what item best expresses the theme, and handing out one prize or perhaps a first and second prize. I think it would be a nice way for the community to get together and motivate everyone to create something. Plus we could blog about our processes - what inspired us, how we decided to interpret the theme, and the making of the actual finished object.

Yes we could add it up for some bigger prizes if thats what members want.

Creative Cafe is already a charitable group run by and supporting people with disabilities so by being a member you are already helping a charitable cause. The more active you are the more you help because the more traffic we have the more our advert rates improve and so the more we have to pay our costs and then share out.Many of our members do have disabilities or relatives with disabilities so I do want the money shared among our members. Because YOU deserve it!

Saving the money up & then having it as a monthly, 6 monthly or even yearly prize sounds like a good idea. Or how about having a list of certain charities that it is donated to yearly?

Funny I was just looking on Agitise which we joined earlier this month and have now made the great sum of $2.50! But all these little bits add up and as long as our hosting and other costs get covered our little group of Creative Cafe trustees are happy.

I heard some people say the Entrecard credits could even go as high as $6 a thousand once the inflation has gone down but who knows what will happen next!. I am interested in how our Creative Cafe members would like whatever we get shared out anyway.

My first thought was to spend it on the site but you seem to think you have that covered Jill.
Some sort of competition or recognition prize sounds quite good. How would this be judged? By admin, by peers or by traffic/performance?
Come on everyone, even if like me your appearances on this site are sporadic, let's give Jill a little help here.

I personally don't believe it will go up to 3USD/k. That's way too high for a click/ad network. Even Adgitise, which has a reasonable revenue model, isn't that high.

I hope I'm wrong, but if it is then it will soon go down again as people jump on the click bandwagon.

Anyway, maybe we could spend them on advertising.
