Not that I am pandering to Jill's flower passion but I just had to show you this Rose. It is a Whisky Mac that was planted where our border collie Mac used to dig large holes, in memory of him. Now I am not very good with roses and it usually looks a bit spotty and unwell. My neighbour found in an old book the advice to place banana skins around the base of her roses. Well I tried it and lo and behold we had two very large, luscious flowers. The centres of the roses were so large that when trying to take this photo a very large, hairy bumble bee emerged from the centre of the flower, it had been totally hidden in there. A local garder says it is probably the potassium. Anyway, another recycling idea and the birds also help themselves to bits of the banana skin.
