Abstract by Aileen Clarke is our latest Creative Cafe Side Picture Challenge Winner.

It is the turn of talented artist Aileen Clarke to be winner of our Side Picture Design Challenge this week. This is the second of three lovely designs submitted by Aileen which you can see on her blog and in Aileen's own words:

"When I read about this challenge I knew exactly which pieces I wanted to enter. The reason I have chosen these is because 1) They are abstract and should suit the tiled effect 2) They are quite colourful and 3) They are made up of left overs and scraps from other projects and may inspire others to have a go at doing something creative with bits and pieces that may otherwise end up in the bin."

Aileen makes wonderful embroidered fabric fused crafts in the form of cards and pictures which you can see in her shop. You can also find Aileen on her page at My Space and Flickr.

Wow! This piece is a burst of nostalgia!
It invokes long ago memories of wandering up and down the fabric isles with my grandma-or sometimes other peoples grandma as making 'outfits' and costumes was everywhere around me as a little girl living in New Orleans-Mardi Gras is in reality a way of living as much as an annual event.
Having left all that behind decades ago-this is a very pleasant surprise.
