Sitting out on the front porch,
A glass of ice tea in hand;
Chatting with my husband,
About all the things we planned.
Life just kind of happened,
Without reason without rhyme;
There is joy and there is sorry,
In the many seasons of time.
We talked about our children,
And the blessings of family;
About our faith in America,
Thanking God that we are free.
We never had much money,
But we had friendship we held dear;
We had our love for one another,
Which grows stronger every year.
And as my husband kissed my cheek,
I prayerfully thanked the Lord above;
For giving me this caring man,
Who taught me how to love.
