Buying and selling art and handmade crafts

and in our new Creative Cafe Salesrooms Group HERE
Got your cards today. They are great thanks. Glad to hear you will be setting up shop in Salesrooms soon. Will definitely be back for more. Your designs really seem to be cheerful in this bleak winter. Mind you it was quite sunny today down here.
Oh thats Ok about the cards. We will want more soon I guess.
Here is my latest weeks group comment anyway...
If you have time read this article How the Internet Redefined Art
It says the internet has redefined art and is going for the Wow factor and the Novelty value instead of quality works.
I admit when I have been putting round comments on your page I have gone for novelty. The painting elephants, the dancing parrot, the green graffiti. And here is another novelty The Four Seasons Tree from the article above which was voted best art on Digg and had 240000+ views on flicr. The article says this is a dumbing down of art and that its hard to get 'real' art education on the internet. Have a look and see what you think and let me know if you want me to bring around novelty or 'serious' to your page?
I have put your works up in the main page spotlight slideshow this week for being one of our members with work in the Salesrooms. You do have a lovely selection of cards. Sales are slow at the moment but I think they will increase again for Valentines.
What I have done is got a box, that a present came in and I am have put my arty bits and pieces in there.
I picked up some different ribbons (all on special offer) the other day and today I bought a new pair of scissors as I think they are going to be essential when cutting and shaping things for the cards. My old ones couldn't cut butter. lols
I have some stickers and lettering I picked up at Wilkos pretty cheap and also I have plenty of card, so am going to do some DIY stencils. Just have a play around really. See what comes out.
My friend is coming over next Friday and we are going to have a card making session. Em, my daughter, made all her Christmas cards so she wants to join in with us. Will be a girly day in. And my friend makes great decoupage cards and has offered to show Em and me how to do that.
So it is all quite exciting right now. Can't wait to get started. I might do some playing around, with card, over the weekend...see how things go.
Will let you know if I get inspiration. If I am pleased with any of the results will take some photos and put them up here.
It is really thanks to Creative Cafe and the card making members that I have got the bug. That is one of the great things about being on here, I get to see what other people do and sometimes, have a go myself.
Sharing is a great thing....as long as everyone can have their space, their creativity and that it doesn't become plagiarism. The uniqueness of individual art is what it should be about...and having some fun along the way.
Oh no I see below you didn't get the last Cafe News. Sorry about that. They are going on the main page from now anyway.
Well I was just wondering if you have seen this?
The picture is from a colouring book of Mandalas a friend bought me for Christmas. I find colouring incredibly therapeutic. Wish I could draw things to colour. Maybe I could but they wouldn't look that good. Might give it a try though. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I think this picture is of a window in a French cathedral. Not Notre Dame, although I have coloured one called 'The Rose Window' which was from a window in Notre Dame.
Anyway, maybe that is too much information. Hope haven't bored you silly.
I see you have put up some new piccies. Going to look at them now.
Let your imagination run free

This week with my own hands I have set up a new group
on Creative Cafe for anything to do with disability which
you may like to join? And isn’t it handy that we have a lot
of interesting discussions going on at the moment. Please
don’t be shy and at least give us a helping hand with the
one where members introduce themselves. And hands
up if you have thought of buying any of the lovely
things in our Salesrooms lately? That would be a truly
handsome thing to do. Finally I have to rush off now
because I have my hands full sending round this comment!

Today I have a picture of 'green graffitti' in Brooklyn!

Anyway here is another silly video for you!
Got some corrugated paper so might cut shapes out and add piccies or sequins. the choices are pretty endless.
Hope your weekend is going well for you. The sun is out here and feels a bit Springlike.

Featuring
See the Festive and Trees Slideshow
of members work and other tree items
on the main page. Thanks to members
who have made the effort to contribute.
Read about the Tate Modern and
the Living Wage campaign. Are they
being modern Scrouges ?
I have now taken out quite a few
widgets and some slideshows and
hope the site runs faster. More about this
is in the discussion Internet Connectivity.
Thanks to Desik, Tina Donavan, Rebecca,
Green Tambourine Designs, Margaret Hamilton
of Slackstitches, Leslie Wilson-Rutterford
and Lionel Ross for being the first seven
members to list their work in our Salesrooms.
They all win either a fairtrade friendship
bracelet or a handmade wooden pen and
there are still 3 more of these prizes
for being in the first 10 to be won
I want to wish everyone very Happy Holidays
but also a word of warning that this
can be a difficult time of year for many.
Calls to helplines for all kinds of problems
and depression rise by nearly ten per cent
during the festive season. Creatve Cafe
will be open all over the holidays
and I hope to put up some quizzes,
competitions, puzzles, jokes
and so on next week for entertainment.
If you have any contributions
please do add these and make an effort
to communicate with other members.
Thanks for all your contributions
to Creative Cafe since we opened
six weeks ago.
Bye for Now
