Here I think we all know there's nothing to be done about the snow, so we just barge on. This year's amount is amazing though. And there's more coming down! I swept the car off to take a fuzzy to the vet today; roads were slushy, and it's cold, but kitty Jake was so good. He never even cried. But I do see a lot of buried cars and wrecks--people just have to take more care behind the wheel, and maybe take a cat with them to talk to. :-)
I'm glad your brother made it. Is he going to stay long? It's nice to have visitors over the holidays. No one's visiting here--everyone's too far away--but we have plans to go out a lot, and to give the kitties their presents, which is always entertaining. And we're going to watch a lot of DVD's!
I think Mom would approve.
Anyway, Merry CHristmas to you and Dickens, enjoy all your company and all the good meals and treats, and hug Dickens for me--and yourself!
Oh, my manager called Saturday. It seems someone contacted him with great interest in the series after seeing the materials at one of our already interested paties' offices. My manager seems to think this might come together very quickly! Perhaps the New Year might start off with a bang.
Over a metre of snow and you still keep going. We are such wimps over here. On Friday woke up to a few inches of snow. First the supermarket shopping delivery cancelled. Then the doctor's surgery cancelled my appointment. Schools had closed for the day. Public transport wasn't running. Everything came to a standstill. I managed to get the local shop to deliver some basics. My brother was due this weekend and I wondered if he would be able to get here. In the end he did get here and we even went out (in the snow!) Saturday night for a really nice meal. Twas good to see him and have a good talk and catch up as well. I'm glad the snow didn't prevent his visit.
The rest of the holidays I've got people visiting on Christmas Eve Boxing day Saturday and on the Monday so will be doing quite a lot of cooking. Apart from that hope to stay in in the warm and watch the holiday specials on TV and generally eat drink and be merry!
Really hope you enjoy yourself with your sister and your cat family. I know you have got sadness as well but try to relax and enjoy as much as you can
So sorry to hear about losing your Mom. It's a shock even when you are expecting the loss. I'm glad you have got your writing to help through this difficult time.
Also glad to hear the cats and kittens are doing well. It's a shame they have to get old like your Jake. I wouldn't be surprised if he is going to your Mom either. Animals often seem to me to have psychic senses that we have lost.
Sorry about your car your furnace your accountants and any other annoying hassles you are having. The good signs with your manager and neighbour do sound good though. And well done on getting to be a finalist in the scriptwriting contests. I know you have a lot of talent and that will be rewarded sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.
We had a bit of snow today but it didn't settle and now at 11ish at night I look out and there is a right snowstorm going on. Dickens just doesn't know what to make of snow at all! Our friend Tony is here and we are thinking he may have to stay the night rather than go home in this weather. I expect you are used to a lot of snow but we are not and the whole country grinds to a standstill over it!
Yes do hope you enjoy the holidays despite the sadness over your Mom.
Can't believe it is July since I wrote to you. The time has flown. I was just reminded to write to you because a newish member Lily told me they have loads of rescue cats. So how are your kittens and how are you? I hope things are going well. It will soon be the holidays now huh.
Yes well I was sure we would win the 49 mill last night but NO! Oh well we are bound to win next week.
Sounds like you and your sister have been through quite a lot together. It is good you can both be supportive and caring. I think it helps a lot when you have people you can trust around. When I lived on my own a few years I found I would think too much and brood on things all the time. I'm much happier shareing with Azzi now. But when I was married I was unhappy shareing so it doesn't always work.
I hope you find a good publisher for your books soon as well.
and other groups to do with writing and books. So it may be worth you getting in touch with her.
Yes it would be nice to win the lottery and get your series sold. Every week before the lottery draw I have a little daydream what to do with the money when I win. Every week I am convinced I will win! At the moment my cause is housing and homelessness so I would spend a lot on providing good easily affordable housing for people who can't get any now. But my causes change on a regular basis. Of course I will give a lot to you for the cats as well!
Yes it is much better to be breathing well again. And I appreciate being able to breath in a way I never did before I got ill.
I'm a bit shocked at the moment because poor Alec told me in May that his Mom had got cancer but the treatment prospects looked good but now he just told me she has died. Terrible shock for him isn't it. Do you know Alec on here? He lives in Seattle which I think of as being up your way!
have you finished the 5 novels yet?! Only joking! Mind you the way you are so creative I wouldn't be surprised How are the kittens and everything? I am much happier with a stronger inhalor that has given me a new lease of life this summer. Didn't think I'd ever feel so well again. Well except for recurring stomach problems which continue on and off but the breathing is much easier. Hope it stays that way!
Anyway this is all really just to say I hope you are doing well at the moment.
Wow five different novels at the same time is quite something! Hope you don't get confused with so many different characters to keep track of though. But you seem so talented you probably manage fine.
I went for the results of my breathing test today and was told I have to go for a chest xray and take a stronger inhaler. I was expecting the news so it wasn't a shock really.
Went to this nursery afterwards and bought some plants for the garden including some marigolds which look really bright and cheerful and some rock plants for a small rockery area we are planning in one corner. It's only a very little garden but I like to fit a lot in!
Anyway don't worry about writing back because I know you are not feeling too bright lately. I'll be back round to see how you are getting on before long anyway.
I think I am confused by inhalers and ventilators as I thought they are the same! I have got an inhaler but probably not a ventilator if it is different! I will have to look these things up and learn what I am talking about...
Fancy you still having snow over there. It must seem like a long winter to you. Yes I am looking forward to time in the garden in the sun this summer. The daffodils and tulips are now nearly over so I am thinking what to plant that will flower next. Probably some wallflowers which smell really nice as well.
Anyway take it easy and I hope you feel better soon.
Sorry to hear you have been down with ashma. Do you have to use ventilators? I was given one by my doctor since my breating got bad and it helps quite a lot when I use it.
Things here are ticking along. Managed to get in the garden in the sun a few times. I think it was the ottest April ever over here! otherwise I am mainly on the computer doing this and that.
I was going round the blogs I visit on Entrecard yesterday and noone said they were affected by that virus. From what I could gather they don't know who is responsible but it seems to originate in the far East and is a way of taking control of people's computers but they don't know what for. Really annoying people to do stuff like that. Like the spammer who was on every page on here last weekend. Apparently it was a robot spam which joined every Ning network and left a mobile phone ringtone advert on every members page! Surely they know noone responds to spam messages anyway?
Oh well I'm glad to hear you may be warming up and getting some Spring sun over there. It has really cheered me up having the daffodils and pansies flowering just outside the living room. I even went out and stayed in the garden a while the other day. It was really warm in the sun.
I was just reading that big profits are being made by windmill owners as they are getting subsidies to produce eco power. I'd love to have a windmill and be free of the electric bills. What a terrible situation when people are losing their homes or being driven to bankruptcy by heating bills.
Anyway hope things are going well for you today. I did my April Fools blog! That kept me amused for a while!
Wow science fiction in the future. You have got such a wonderful imagination. I'll be keen to hear how the novel progresses.
A heated greenhouse for veggies sounds great but I just got our winter heating bill for electric and wouldn't use that but we have no choice as there is no gas in this house. Considering it is a small house it is an extortionate bill. They now say many people are in 'fuel poverty' as heating costs are rising to over 10% of their incomes. Ridiculous situation.
So you have been having late snow. It is sunny again here today but still cold out. So I am staying in in the warm!
Wow starting a new novel sounds exciting. What's it about or is it a big secret at the moment? You are multi talented what with your art and writing and all. Hope it all pays off for you soon.
Things here are ticking along. It has been raining and got colder again this week so my plans to go to the plant nursery for more garden plants are on hold. The forecast is bad all week.
Yes the hurricane left lots of fallen trees and damaged buildings in its wake. It was quite dramatic at the time. But we hardly ever get them and this morning I came down to find the daffodils are out today! It has been really sunny and Springlike. Makes for a lighthearted feeling in the air.
Yes your'll have to go places when your series gets the go ahead. Any news on progress with that recently or is still all up in the air? It must be hard in this recession to get funding through for new projects but I am sure you will get the go ahead soon!
Your snowstorm sounds very dramatic and a bit dangerous to be cut off like that. I admit to liking rough weather myself as well though. Although when we had a hurricane back in the 80s (very unusual for here) I slept right through it! I do like to see waves crashing on the beach in a storm as well. Anyway I hope things are calmer for you now.
I'd love to meet you and go travelling round your area but with my bad breathing I doubt I'd make it that far these days. How are you about travelling? I suppose you can't leave your cats long.
Just to remind you

I just looked at a map to see where you are. Right over the other side from where I visited. And it sounds georgeous. You should be writing the travel guides for them!
I heard on the news this morning that there is a big rise in the sale of vegetable seeds since the credit crunch as people are now growing their own to save money. But we can't plant them out yet. Although the daffs are showing through there can still be frosts at night right up until May sometimes.
Let your imagination run free

and other groups to do with writing and books. So it may be worth you getting in touch with her.
