Hi Leslie

Hope you are well. I just got sent the following!:

THOSE BORN 1920-1979

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no child proof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because,

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.And we were OK.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ridedown the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all,no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chatrooms.......

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

Bye for Now

Hi Leslie

I already had comments from that spammer on other Ning sites I am on and was hoping they wouldn't get on here but they did. Really annoying but I've banned them and sent round a message to members now anyway.

Am listening to Samantha's Song. It's really good. Has a slightly 'Genesis' feel to it, but that could just be me. Your lyrics are relevant and uppy too. I won't patronise you and say "Well done" because is evident that you have talent and hope to listen to more of your music,as and when.

Had good meeting with shrink. Was in the meeting for 50 minutes...that is a record these days. usually you get 15-20 minutes and no time to go into depth about anything.

I am being put on a very low dose of Lithium. Lower even than the minimul prescriptive dose (due to my low tolerance levels). I have to go for blood tests and and ECG first and then have blood tests every two weeks when I first start. Am okay about it because am not being put on massive doses, which I think, can be dangerous to the body's organs. Gonna give it a try and see how I go.

Have also been cutting down Lorazepam only quarters a day because shrinky tablets make you 'dopey' and the mix of sedatives and Lithium could make me either sleep all day or be monged out all the time.

Going to Mum's plot today as visiting friend's Mum who is out of hospital tomorrow and looking forward to the walk.

Hope your weekend is a good one. The Sun has been shining alot so sure it will be bright for you.

Take care there

Hugs

Morning Leslie

Can't remember if I replied to your last post or not. Apologies, am a bit spacey.

GP put me on sleeping tablets. yak! Had horrid dreams..make that nightmares. The plan, on her part, was for me to stop using sedation to aid sleep. She is worried that i am over-using sedation. Well, I agree but needs must and of the 2 medications, the benzos give me a more relaxed sleep so resorting back to them..pending what the shrink says (that is if I get to see the shrink)..and so it goes on and on to fade :>)

Have you got any footage from the videos that you can share here or am I being too cheeky asking? Hoping the book signing went well for all concerned and the kids had fun.

Am waiting for half loz to kick in and be in more comfortable state than fuzzy headed and contemplating the stuff drudged up from subconcious. Will have a milky decaf coffee and hunt out some biccies.

Enjoy your day

Evening Leslie

Had intended to go back to you sooner but things got busy at home. Em turned up and then we went round Dad's with a take out.

Was surprised to see that he hasn't touched any of the food in his cupboards or fridge. It seems if people aren't around then he isn't eating. Not good.

Will go round tomorrow, with Debs, and if he hasn't eaten then cook him something and Debs said she will go see him on Saturday and check that he is eating then.

So it is Reading Day next week. You will be very busy then too. If you take any photos could you put them up on the blog or perhaps an edit of one of the videos you take? Would be great to see it.

I am not really happy at the thought of going into acute care but I am less happy about trying medication at home. Debs has said I can stay at hers, if I want to try new medication and then we can check daily that Suki is fed and fussed. Will see. What I really need is services to take more responsibility for Dad's care and I am sure my mental and emotional states would pick up then.

Anyway, am pretty tired out now so going to bed.

Rest well, ahead of your busy week.

Hi Leslie

Thank you for my card. It was a lovely surprise.

I went to a pancake evening last night. Friends of Debs. They had a black fluffy cat, called Trixiebelle' who came and had some fusses and then jumped up on my legs and fell asleep. So cute. I didn't think I would get there because my nerves are shot to pieces but I did and was glad I didn't give in and go home.

Spoke with my support worker today. She is very worried about me. We spoke about acute care. I don't really want to go into that environment but I am not getting any better at home (if anything the fight is using energy I haven't got). The one good thing about the unit is that my psychiatrist (the one I trust) is based there and if I try new medication, he will listen to my concerns and observe how I react and actually work with me to get a balance. Most shrinks don't pay any attention to what patients say and tend to treat patients, me included, like cretins.

Anyway, will see how things are when I get back from my break. I might feel able to carry on without going into acute care. Time will tell.

When I get back will make you a nice card.

How have things been for you this week? I remember you writing you were going to do some filming of a book signing. Have you done that yet? If so, how did it go?

Take care there
Hugs

Hi Leslie

That Doberman sounds like Skippy. I am not sure about Alsations. They scare me a bit. When I was young and we lived in Stopsley, the people who lived a few doors down had a Boxer called 'Mandy'. She adored me and the feeling was mutual. Maybe it was the Mandy connection. Ha! ha!

I know that now is definately not the time for me to be venturing about too much. My mental state has deteriated as the week has gone on and woke up in a flap this morning. Rang the Emergency Duty Team who were about as useful as a chocolate teapot in a heatwave. My options were to go to A&E (yeah right) or call the locum doctor out. Trying to explain mental crisis to a locum doctor is like being in some Victorian Farce and I am not keen to go to hospital, unless it is absolutely essential for my welfare.

I don't like relying on the sedatives but with the on-going lack of care for Dad is not like there are that many options for me. Some people can switch off, or remain jovial through thick and thin. That ain't me. I was born to worry although it never does any good whatsover.

Have slapped a large dollop of ibuprofem gel on my shoulder. Which has ben grinding away at my resolve. I know a visit to GP would be sensible but I often get the feeling that I am classsed as the loony league when I go there. Will see how it feels on Monday and review the situation.

Glad you have been perusing your local second hand shops. They are wonderful places with plenty of hidden treasure. I got a tartan scarf to match my tartan trousers last week and a funky handbag for 50p each.

That meal sounds like a mega treat. I have some money, which I took out for the craft centre, left and think I will treat myself to a Chinese meal tonight. I need comfort.

Enjoy your Saturday

Would be very hard to choose my favourite type of dog because it all depends on their personalities. I like Westies cos they get all excited to see people and need lots of fusses. My friend with the goats has a 16 year old Westie called Sally. She is a bit senile, a bit blind and a bit deaf but so adorable.

I didn't get to the craft fair. I have had the most horrific day with myself and have had to take heavy sedation to survive it. I am now in a tranquil place and intend to stay here until whatever it that is eating me away eases up.

I managed to do some microwave prawn noodles earlier and they were delish. So have eaten and now I am going to curl up in bed and watch The Comedy Channel.

Good luck with all your work and the filming of the book signing sounds interesting. You do do a variety of things. Stuff of life eh?

Huskies are beautiful dogs. I never knew they had a desire to chew furniture though. You learn something new everyday.

Struggling to get motivated here. Am supposed to be heading off to a craft centre later but am rather flat. Still think it is better to try, rather than to give in to temptation to head back to bed.

Hoping your day and weekend is a good 'un.

Hi Leslie

Evening wear shorts are a bit like culottes only not so flappy. I remember culottes and they were too baggy for me. The pair I have have more style. Thank heavens :>)

I daren't eat anything in front of Skippy because he will devour it before I get a chance. He is so cute though. He is allowed inside my friend's house for a while, that is until he starts eating at the furniture. Last night he ate a pot plant whilst me and friend were in the kitchen doing dinner.

Today we went to a farm that rears lambs as friend wants to take one of the lambs that has been rejected by it's mother and nurture it. I am sure, if she could, she would save every animal. So far so good as in all the ewes seems to be wanting their offspring but the owner has taken friend's telephone number and will ring her should a lamb need external nurturing. She has asked me to go with her, when she gets the call, and it will be novel for me. I will have to cradle the lamb as she drives it home. Kinda sweet.

I think I would like most kinds of Turkish Delight although the nutty one sounds very appetising.

Heading off soon as Em and her fella are coming round and then we are going to order an Indian Meal to have with Dad.

Take care there

Afternoon Leslie

Well I hope the funeral goes well for your neighbour and those who turn up are those who genuinely care.

I got some lovely evening wear shorts and a pair of high heeled shoes with a total cost of £5 so I think I did really well. I bet the shops near you are great and looking forward to seein gthem when the weather is more constant and constantly mild. :>)

Off to stay with another friend tonight. The one who keeps goats. She is cooking me dinner and am looking forward to that.

Best get back to packing my overnight bag.

Morning Leslie

I, for one, will be glad of some brighter weather. So bring on Spring. :>)

Is good that you have sorted the funeral arrangments and music as that will be a weight of your neighbour's mind. I don't think the amount of people that turns up is important as long as the ones that do really care. At my mum's funeral most of her so called friends didn't bother turning up. I learnt a valuable lesson that day. That is why I let very few people into my space any more. Not that I give a monkey's who comes to my funeral. I will be past caring at that point!! Ha! ha! In fact, I'd rather that my daughter doesn't have the burden of a funeral. Would be okay for her to just have me cremated and scatter my ashes anywhere she likes. I can't stand pomp and circumstance.

Anyway, am hoping to get to town later with friend, to look around second hand shops. Haven't done that for a while and is something I really enjoy.

Hope you get to do things you enjoy this week.

Hi Leslie

Loving the decor.

I got the card and turkish delight. Thank you so much, both were great surprises.

I went to a valentine's disco last night, which was great cos I got a chance to bop and enjoy myself. However, I have a friend staying who is miserable 24/7 and really dragging me down. I can't wait to have my space back.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

How is your neighbour getting on now?

Hi Leslie

Glad the most recent snow has only been slight for you.

Yesterday a friend escorted me round Dad's. I am not up to seeing him on my own. I am pretty emotional alot of the time and what I don't want is my feelings making Dad's feelings worse..not sure he could get any worse but you know what I mean. I was slipping and sliding all over the place. A bit scarcy, underfoot.

Haven't had a migraine since Thursday but I think that is because I am keeping myself highly sedated. Tension levels are too much to try and control on my own.

A review meeting has been organised with Dad's MH team on Wednesday but, so far, all these meetings have made no difference whatsoever. I have written back to the complaints manager, with a copy to my MP saying it is all a little too late but will do my best to get Dad and me to the meeting. Again, the responsibility is always on me to make anything happen.

Thankfully, another friend, with a car went and got Dad some shopping in today. So he won't starve but as ever I am in the middle organising it all. I really need the pressure taken off me.

One good thing is that someone asked me to make a birthday card for their daughter. I made 2, so they could choose, and they want both. That perked me up a bit.

I also got a call, yesterday, from my ex boss. She looked out for me and actually encouraged me to build skills. It was thanks to her that I had the skills to run a training department. the downside was that most of her job became my responsibility when she left to work in London. However, she has never forgotten me and she says when things are better in my life (and i have to hang on to hope that they will get better) we can meet up. We used to have some great days out and quite a bit of fun at work too.

Hope your Monday is a good one for you. I am waiting for the snow to thaw because i want to do some local shopping but don't feel safe on the ice.

Take care

Hugs x

P.S. Thanks for getting the turkish delight. I could do with something to pacify my sweet tooth/ :>)

Making cards cos that helps distract me.

Hows things where you are? Have you been snowed in?

The snow is beautiful to look at but will be glad when it disappears.

Hi Leslie

Thank you so much for the latest piccie. x

Been busy and the meeting with Dad's care team was mostly a waste of. Going back to MP to see if he can't help Dad get the right care. Gotta keep trying although it drains me.

Having a relaxing weekend here. Hope yours is the same
