From You:
"Hi there! Hope you are doing well. I make jewellery also and its always great to talk to and get advice from other artisans. How are things going and what is your most recent venture? I see u paint and draw also. Do you sell your paintings? What kind of jewellery most enspires you. So many questions. Do you make a living from your craft? Cheers, Karen."
My comments:
In the early stages of Creative Cafe I ended up with 2 profiles but this is the one I use consistently. One day the other will get taken down. (hint Jill) So, selling my paintings. I have only given them away but would love to sell them. Might inspire me to paint more. LOL My most recent venture has come to a halt since I moved into an apt with my kids. Still seeing my boyfriend of almost 5 years but separating our teens at the moment. Would love to get back into PMC work and make use of my kiln.
The jewelry I am inspired by is hand made - such as PMC, clay, glass - youi know pieces that are truly unique and that I might make myself. Tapping into my own creative goddess could be so fun.
No,I don't make a living at my craft - I guess then it would be a job, right? lol but I did make a couple grand last year. However, have to deduct expenses from that and most likely ended up even at the very least. Well, I can hope anyway - probally went over budget.
How are your boys? Still in Australia - and how do they like it? How are your jewelry sales going?
Summer might be a good time to hit the art markets and see if you can sell anything. Do you have "Saturday Markets" over there?
well if you have to be a criminal, a fun loving one is the way to be! the fuckin night is cancelled, no idea what's happened but the guy's not promoting anything any more.... this is why i get pissed off with trying to actually PLAY....ANYWHERE....!!! still waiting on that magic number from you ;) hugz xIx
hi babe yeah i could get you a ticket, they're a 5iver each, still not sure how much the mini bus is gonna be, probably not much more than a 10enner, but that is just a guess just now, coz it's my mates who are running the bus. i'm working on a 'classic dance' double mix cd just now, kinda almost got the first one sorted, just to tweak the nipples, oops sorry tweak the sound a wee bit. on the night it's probably gonna be more a mish-mash of everything that i play. how's the wee doggy by the way?
hi babe! a wee update, the edinburgh thing seems to be getting better, the guy's on the level i'm sure, plus my friends the band year zero who are playing that night are putting on a mini bus to take people to and from the gig, so we're sorted, much cheaper than a hotel!!! by the way any chance you could pop your phone no in a private message to me on bebo or general email, just in case of internet fuck-ups or anything, plus it lets me take my stalking of you to another new level lol!
NOT TO GOOD AT THE MOMENT BEEN VERRY BIZZY THE YOUNGEST SAYED TO HER TECHER I GAVE HER A SLEEPING TABLLET DONT NO WERE SHE GOT STORRY FROM BUT ITS BEEN CUSING A LOAD OF TRUBLE WITH THE SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT THAT WHY I HAVE JUST BEEN SENDING YOU TAGS LATLLY HAVENT HAD THE TIME TO HAVE A GOOD TALK
sorry still getting used to this site a wee bit! which particular rant was that? i've done several.... i'm just a greetin faced auld bastard these days... anyhow the ed thing... still not sure about it, it's supposed 2 b on sat 30th may, a guy i've got to know in ed is gonna b trying 2 promote bands & he's into me dj-ing as well, but not sure about it all yet, he gets a bit 'vague' when i try & ask him about stuff like money (will probably lose out of it first time, but hopefully long term can turn i into something, we'll see!), plus the fact that i want about 2 hrs to do a dj set, not just fill in between bands like a filler (can do that too but want a proper set), as i say we'll see!
yeah i have heard of it believe it or not! quite a bizarre song, have only heard it a couple of times so couldn't really tell u any lyrics from it, 1 of my mates has their/his(??) album and says it's great.
well hopefully he's ok! dog's are better than most people! and as for people not buying anything - tell me about it, i'm at my wit's end in that f*cking shop with cust-dumbers asking about ridiculous things with a kilt outfit hire... what sporran do i get? what flashes do i get? how much is it? oh i can get 1 cheaper than that, can we try 1 on? basically can i be a time wasting c*nt who wants to just waste half an hour of your precious time, until you eventually lose your patience and don't want to see me ever again??? oh and i'll do all this when you're up to your neck trying to get other work done! dj-ing.... going thru 2 see about a possibility in edinburgh of all places, hopefully will work out as the guy seems alright, hugz & give doggy a cuddle for me too x
Hi Karen
You mentioned an email. Where did you send it to?
I am still only learning myself about the jewellery business but if i can help at all I will do.
I see that your 2 boys have gone off to OZ , that must be pretty tuff for you. I hope they have a good time but I am sure they will miss their mum lots.
Lovely to hear from you. Yes my moving house is an ongoing process! Still have lots of unpacking to do and we still have the old flat until next Thursday. Only after that will I feel really moved in.
Anyway I just had another look at your website and don't remember those blue beads that follow the cursor around. That is neat. Have you thought of joining Rebeccas group called a Bead Deava by the way? There are only 6 of us on there so far but she is really up on jewelery making and you could find it interesting. Kate (omshanti is also on there) If you want to join then there is a link on the left side of this page just above the live traffic feed.
Anyway thanks for your kind words and remember if you want to promote your jewelery then the latest blogs get featured on the Main page and some photos are chosen to go on Main as well.
Oh yes and I ment to say that listings in the Salesrooms are free and there are no site charges at the moment. But I have to say sales are quite slow in there. But we do get page views.
Anyway I must rush off as still have a lot to get done tonight!
Will be in touch again soon.
Welcome to Creative Cafe. I have just been looking at the slideshow on your website. You have some lovely work on there. I was also looking at your address. I lived in Dunbarton for a while in the 70s. It was a really interesting area.
Anyway it is quite easy on this site to do things like change your page theme, add photos, videos, music, write blogs. You can start and join in groups and discussions and make new friends.Any photos you put up may be chosen to be featured in the Spotlight on Main and the latest 5 blogs are featured. There is also a Cafe News on the Main page and any news items you have can be added.
If you do decide to sell in Creative Cafe Salesrooms then these need to be registered for seperately. There are instructions on the site.
Anyway I hope that is enough information for you for the moment. If you want any help with anything just ask by leaving a comment on my page. And I will hope to catch up and get to know you better soon.
Let your imagination run free
